Caroline Berry

Caroline Berry is an author and poet based in Horsham, West Sussex.

An enthusiastic writer since childhood, her literary journey took off during the 2020 lockdown when she began writing a series of poems charting her experience and emotions during this turbulent time. Many of these poems have since been published both online and in print.

A keen walker and nature lover, much of her writing is inspired from mindful ambles in the Sussex countryside. Her poem - Here She Comes - about the changing seasons in continuation of Shelley’s Ode to the West Wind, was awarded the Shelley Memorial Project Sussex Cup in 2024 and appears in the SMP anthology, If Winter Comes.

Ursula’s Unusual is her first children’s book which is published under the imprint, Pause & Ponder Press. Inspired by Julia Donaldson and Caroline’s own passion for rhyme, her style combines rhyming language with a rich vocabulary to deliver an important, compassionate message to children. Her ambition is to publish a series of books tackling some of the issues affecting children's wellbeing and educating them about acceptance and kindness and to celebrate people’s differences and strengths.

Caroline’s second children’s book, Latif is Lonely, will be out later this year

A former language teacher and tutor, Caroline now works as a mental health practitioner supporting children and young people and their families in local primary, secondary schools and colleges. Caroline lives with her husband, two sons and much-loved spaniel, Dylan.
